Current international web sites warning against Internet Explorer 6
As mentioned earlier, there is a national collaboration amongst Norwegian web sites to make people upgrade their IE6 installation to something better; where better is anything from IE7 to Safari.
Being on a Mac, I have no easy way to actually see these warnings. I thought it would be cool to see, so I started asking around for screen shots. The result can be seen here.
Apparently this campaign also spread to Sweden and Australia, so now I’ve created this post to try to keep track of international pages working for the same campaign: To push IE6 percentages so low that you don’t have to take it into consideration when you create web sites anymore.
axbom.se is a Swedish site about web strategies and web trends:

travelfish.org is an Indonesian travel intelligence site

mappic.org is a site where users can add pictures from places around the globe

travelfusion.com is a search engine related to travel information

aftonbloadet.se is one of the biggest news sites in Sweden

travellerspoint.com is a site to share and plan travels

flashmagazine.com is a site striving to give the best information about flash and related productions. Offices in Norway

whoa.nu is the biggest hip hop site in Sweden

easyimagesoftware.com is a site for a product site for easy image software

Willhaben.at is a big online market place is Austria, eqiuvalent of Norwegian finn.no

tv2.dk is the danish TV2 channel

hogyan.org is an Hungarian how-to site

Anyone missing? Please send me a message on twitter with a screen shot. (Having a hard time doing them myself, as I don’t have access to IE6 on my mac)

This is great! Would you mind keeping the wiki up to date too?
http://ie6.forteller.net/
Thanks!
It's already a quite time demanding task to keep these two posts more or less up to date. I have to make a screen shot of every page.
I will see if I can find time to do a few batch updates on forteller later.
Added IE6 warning on http://mappic.org/ yesterday
Thank you. Added
Howdy, great work
I've got one for you, though we've wanred against IE in general since like August 2008, so I am not really sure if we're in "our own class" or something …
http://ra-ajax.org
Also I've made a "nautral upgrade from IE6 banner" which displays font-size according to "the quality of the different alternatives" which I've written about here; http://ra-ajax.org/the-fair-upgrade-from-ie6-bann...
Great initiative anyway
And since yesterday, http://www.IDG.se (largest IT related site in Sweden) as well.
I was not able to see anything withhttp://ipinfo.info/netrenderer/index.php.<br />Maybe you could take a screen shot and sent to me?
@Thomas Hansen: Then I beat you to it. I've warned about IE6 (didn't have the guts to warn about IE in general) since July 2008

I have a problem with the fact that several of the campaigning sites suggesting that Safari is a better browser than IE7. Not on Windows, it isn't. On Windows it's a less secure browser than IE7, and not yet stable enough to compare with mature browsers. It may be good on OS/X but if you have IE6, Safari for Windows is hardly an upgrade.
I haven't really checked what most sites are suggesting, but from what I've heard most sites are just suggesting something other than IE6. That be firefox, opera, chrome or safari.
Safari may not be more secure on windows, but it's more standards compliant than IE7. I don't think that's the point though. Just getting people to upgrade is the most important goal.
Stats also show that most are clicking on the IE-update link.
Willhaben.at first out in Austria! Huge classifieds site..
Added
Please add TV2 Denmark
http://twitpic.com/1l4m2
http://www.svenskfast.se/ should be added.. no time for a screen shot..
Done
netrenderer didn't show up with anything, which means I'm unable to make a picture myself.
Finally!!! I fully support this action. I will upgrade our company site with the IE6 message. I was thinking along the same lines. I am happy someone started the movement. Thanks from Holland!
Pls add hogyan.org: http://www.hogyan.org/fajlok/2009/02/hogyanorgie6...
this site is a hungarian how-to page.
Done!

Hi Peter, glad to see that campaigns like this are sprouting worldwide. We at Neuro-Designs would like to join the cause: http://www.neuro-designs.com
Thanks.
To actually get people to update their browser, especially elderly and people who are afraid to do anything to their pc. We made a dutch site showing step for step update process of IE6 to IE7 or firefox. So if you're dutch send this to your grandparents

Hi. A Lithuanian company Travelpal Co. Ltd. also supports this campaign. We have added a message for IE6 users on our website http://www.travelpal.lt. Travelpal is an incoming tourism organizator, oriented into the Norwegian market. The screenshot can be found here: http://www.travelpal.lt/Travelpal_ie6.png.
